Target Audience

As part of our final production we need to demostrate an understanding of our target audience. The brief states my 'final animation will be seen by children and adults alike'.  The BBFC stands for British Board Film Classification.

U: Universal.
Universal is suitable for any audience, it doesn't have any explict contents for example violence, nudity, strong language and discrimination.

PG: Parental Guidence.
The Site says:
'Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A ‘PG’ film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.'

12A/12: Suitable for 12 years and over.
12A is means you are accompanied by a adult the contents include discrimination, drugs, horror, imatable behaviour, language, nudity, sex and violence and is also some for a 12.

15: Suitable for 15 years and over.
'No one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema. No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work.'

18: Suitable for only adults.
18 is suitable for the age group 18 onwards whis means only being an adult to watch the the programme/film, the contents of a 18 usually contain strong language,nudity and violence.

R18: To be shown only in specially licensed cinemas, or supplied only in licensed sex shops, and to adults of not less than 18 years.
'The ‘R18’ category is a special and legally restricted classification primarily for explicit works of consenting sex or strong fetish material involving adults. Films may only be shown to adults in specially licensed cinemas, and video works may be supplied to adults only in licensed sex shops. ‘R18’ video works may not be supplied by mail order. The following content is not acceptable'

The difference between U and PG is that U is suitable to everybody and PG is suitable for chidlren who have a parents watching with.

The difference between PG and 12A is PG is suitable for younger audience and older audience but 12A is suitable for 12 years old but accompanied by a n adult.

The difference between 12A and 12, is the 12 you dont have to be accompanied by an adult.

The difference between 12 and 15 is  that there is more violence, language and mild nudity in a 15.

The difference between 15 and 18 is that you have to be 18 and there is more violence, nudity and strong language.

The difference between 18 and R18 is that R18 is more explict meaning everything is exposed and won't be held back on explict content.

The target audience we have chose is a 12, this is because we have mild violence.
